Requests, Proposals, and Co-Sponsorship

Through our Public Scholars Program, the Boniuk Center has one doctoral student fellow who is available to speak on a variety of topics.  Ata Anzali focuses on comparative religion, mysticism, Sufism, and Islamic studies.  To learn more about our Public Scholars Program, please click here.

Proposals

The Boniuk Center welcomes ideas for events, and projects from community organizations and individuals who share our mission. We regret that we can undertake only a small fraction of the projects that are suggested to us. To propose an event or project to us for our consideration, please complete this form:  Project Request Form  Please do not use this form to request co-sponsorship of an event or speaker.

Co-sponsorship

The Boniuk Center normally declines requests for co-sponsorship. We will, however, consider requests that represent the collaboration of two or more organizations that speak for different constituencies relevant to the issue at hand. To submit a request for co-sponsorship, please send a 500-word description of the project that explains how it serves the goal of promoting peaceful coexistence along with the names of and contact information for the sponsoring organizations to: tolerance@rice.edu
Incomplete requests will not be considered.

The Boniuk Center co-sponsors events that foster understanding and respect across the boundaries of religion.  We are particularly eager to support events that will draw a diverse audience and that are co-sponsored by organizations representing different religious communities.

Because discussions of religion, religious difference, and tolerance provoke strong feelings and heated debate, the Center will work with community partners to create a hospitable atmosphere so that all people, especially those who disagree with the program or speaker, feel welcome and invited to participate. Facing up to our differences is the first step towards peaceful co-existence.

Opinions expressed by speakers sponsored or so-sponsored by the Boniuk Center do not necessarily represent the views of the Center, its staff, or of Rice University.
